Alloys containing vanadium are stronger and lighter, and is finding expanding use in construction and transport industries. Vanadium’s principal use is as a strengthening addition in carbon steel and high strength steel used in structural applications such as gas and oil pipelines, reinforcing bars in building and construction, tool steel and automotive use.
Titanium aluminum vanadium alloys are used in aircraft components, high speed air frames, rocket motor casings and gas turbines.
Non steel use includes super alloys, welding magnets and alloys used in nuclear engineering and superconductors. Vanadium chemicals and catalysts are used in the manufacture of sulphuric acid, maleic anhydride, EPDR rubber and desulphurization of sour gas and oil.
